LINCOLN
- Nancy Schaffenacker Rieman, of Fishers, Indiana,
passed peacefully at her home on November 25, 2021, surrounded by
her husband and three children.

Obituary
Nancy Schaffenacker Rieman, of
Fishers, Indiana, passed peacefully at her home on
November 25, 2021, surrounded by her husband and
three children.
Nancy was born March 31, 1950 in Lincoln to the late
Isabel and Wilford Schaffenacker. She was baptized,
confirmed, and married at Zion Lutheran Church. She
graduated as valedictorian from Mount Pulaski High
School in 1968 and later earned a Bachelor’s degree
in Education from Eastern Illinois University and a
Master’s Degree in ESL at Indiana University. She
married John Rieman on January 26, 1974 in Mount
Pulaski.
Nancy’s life-long passion involved teaching others
and encouraging a love for learning and reading. She
taught in at Zion Lutheran School in 1980s. Nancy
and her family relocated to Indianapolis, IN in 1990
where she established the preschool and kindergarten
at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She completed her
teaching career in Wayne and Warren Townships in
Indianapolis before retiring from the classroom in
2012 in order to enjoy the freedom retirement had to
offer. She enjoyed traveling, visiting her children,
and spending time with her grandchildren and
watching them thrive. Nothing meant more to Nancy
than being a Mother and Nana. |
Nancy is survived by her loving
husband of 47 years, her children Derek (Annemarie)
Rieman, Geoffrey (Allison) Rieman, and Alicia
(Forrest) Packwood; grandchildren, Eliana Packwood,
Scarlett Packwood, Isabel Rieman, Caleb Rieman, and
Bryant Rieman; sister Carol Nyberg; and brother Dale
Schaffenacker. Also surviving are her Aunt Marilyn
and Uncle Ed Hickey who were dear to her heart for
her entire life.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November
30, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in
Mount Pulaski, Illinois, preceded by a 9:30 a.m.
visitation at the church. Burial will follow at
Steenbergen Cemetery. Services are entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski. The family asks that donations in Nancy’s
honor be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Zion
Lutheran School, or Mount Pulaski Library.
