Niners coach Kyle Shanahan gave reporters the update on Cannon's
status Monday, adding that the player remained in concussion
protocol.
"He's doing better," Shanahan said. "He's been discharged from
the hospital, and he's flying home right now. Our doctors will
continue to monitor him."
On the game's opening kickoff, Cannon was on the ground in an
attempt to wrap up the Seahawks' returner when he accidentally
hit a teammate, which snapped his head and neck back.
The ambulance had to drive onto the field so medical personnel
could load Cannon on via stretcher. The 27-year-old was taken to
a local hospital for further observation.
Cannon has appeared in 46 career games for the New York Jets
(2018-19), Carolina Panthers (2020), Baltimore Ravens (2021) and
49ers. In San Francisco, he mostly contributes as a special
teams player.
Shanahan also said that running back Elijah Mitchell entered
concussion protocol following Sunday's 30-23 loss, and
cornerback Emmanuel Moseley would be out for "several" weeks due
to a high-ankle sprain.
