Obituary
Theresa Marie Young passed away
peacefully on December 2 at Springfield Memorial
Hospital surrounded by her family.
Theresa was born on December 11, 1955, to Paul and
Betty (Burns) Verderber. Theresa has six brothers
and sisters: Bob Verderber (Diane Meyrick), John
(Theresa) Verderber, Nancy (Jim) Martin, Chuck
(Lynda) Verderber, Katie (Jeff) Stollhans, and Barb
(Kent) Bowlby.
Theresa married Matthew Young on August 16, 1980,
and they had four children: Michelle (Howie) Fuiten,
Derek Young, Erik (Danielle) Young, and Kyle (Emily)
Young. This past year Matt and Theresa celebrated 41
years of marriage.
Theresa received her associate degree in fashion
design from William Rainey Harper College in
Palatine. She later went on to further her education
at SIU-Carbondale and became a physical therapy
assistant. Theresa worked as a physical therapy
assistant for over 30 years providing services all
around central Illinois. She was very well-liked and
well-respected by her colleagues and the patients
with whom she served.
Theresa used her design skills and
artistry to create clothing, jewelry, and other
hand-crafted pieces.

Most of all, Theresa loved spending
time with her grandchildren: Carson, Carter,
Cecilia, Ella, Leo, and Crosby. She enjoyed
attending their events and activities and creating
special memories and traditions with each
grandchild. Theresa took pride in her garden and
shared that love with her grandchildren as well.
Theresa was the most selfless person and always took
care of others.
Theresa is preceded in death by her husband, Matt,
her father, Paul, her maternal grandparents, Esther
and James P. Burns and paternal grandparents,
Augusta and John Verderber.
Visitation will be from 10:00 .m. to 12:00 Noon on
Tuesday, December 14 at Holy Family Catholic Church
in Lincoln, with the funeral following with Rev.
Joseph Dondanville officiating and Rev. Daniel
McShane concelebrating. There will be a rosary said
before the visitation at 9:20 a.m. A graveside
service will immediately follow the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made
to Carroll Catholic School, St. Jude’s Children’s
Hospital, and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Services have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
