Obituary
Phyllis Edwards, 86, of Mount Pulaski
passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at HSHS St.
John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Phyllis was born on December 4, 1935 in Metropolis,
the daughter of Bonner C. and Laura Ragsdale. She
married Ernest Richard Edwards on June 6, 1959 in
Metropolis. He preceded her in death on September 7,
2014.
Phyllis is survived by her son, Jeff (Amy) Edwards
of Ballwin, MO; her son-in-law, Jeff Davis of
Ballwin, MO; and her grandchildren, Olivia, Cole,
Jackson, Sinclaire, and Lane; brother-in-law Charles
Austin, nephews Greg & Cary Austin, nieces Sherry
May & Joy Harrison.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; her daughter, Sydney Davis; and her sister,
Barbara Austin.
Phyllis was an English Teacher in Mount Pulaski for
many years and she was known to be a favorite
amongst many of her students. She always had a
loving smile on her face and was a truly genuine
person. Her family and grandchildren were her prides
of joy. |
She was the type of mom and grandma
that would play football, host tea parties, build
forts, and play dress up. Phyllis was a woman of
faith and she raised her family to be the same. She
was a member of the Mount Pulaski Christian Church,
Red Hat Society, and a ladies Investment Group.
Services for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Saturday, December 18, 2021 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski.
Visitation will take place two hours prior to the
service (9:00-11:00am) also at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the services at Mount Pulaski
Cemetery in Mount Pulaski.
Memorial donations may be made in Phyllis’ name to
The Alzheimer’s Association.
