On Monday, December 20th, football fans have
the opportunity to show their "true colors" while supporting a
very good local cause.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Lincoln Salvation Army Red Kettle
bell ringers will be at the new Farm and Home Store (formerly
Big R) on the west side of town for its first day of business.
There will be TWO buckets at the door, one for the Green Bay
Packer fans and one for the Chicago Bears fans.
The final cash count in each bucket will reveal which team is
the most beloved in Logan County!
The ringers will be wearing Packer and Bear swag and will be
urging you to drop in big money based on just how big a fan you
truly are.
Rachel Oney of the Lincoln Salvation Army said that it will be a
fun way to raise funding for local programs. She is hopeful that
shoppers who visit the new store will drop dollars in the
buckets as they pass by.
The local Salvation Army aims to raise $30,000 in this year's Red Kettle
Campaign. Right now, they are far short of reaching that goal.
This year, it is even more critical that the campaign reaches its goal. The
funds raised will go toward food, utility, and rent assistance for those in need
in Logan/Mason County in the coming year, and the demand for these services is
great.
The Salvation Army also needs bell ringers for the Packer/Bear competition as
well as throughout the rest of the season.
