 On Saturday, the Lincoln Christian Church Harvest
of Talents and the Humane Society of Logan County hosted their
annual cookie drives, selling dozens of cookies donated by their
members. The proceeds of each of those sales will go to fulfilling
the missions of the two groups.
On Sunday, cars formed lines around the back side of Graue Chevrolet
as more than 400 cases of citrus were dispersed by the Lincoln
Rotary Club.
At the Lincoln Christian Church, the event was a “drive thru” with
motorists telling the ladies waiting under the carport how many
cookies they would like to purchase. The cookies boxes were prepared
inside and included an assortment of each of the types of treat that
had been donated.
The Humane Society had sold most of their products through advanced
orders, so guests could step inside the Lincoln Masonic Lodge and do
a grab and go, receiving again, a wide variety of everything
offered.

At the same time the HSLC was hosting a bake sale inside, so
shoppers who had not ordered early could still stop by and grab up a container
full of the cookies and treats of their choosing.
For the Lincoln Rotary, doing a Sunday only pick-up was an unexpected challenge.
Michelle Bauer with the Rotary had reported on Friday evening that there was a
mechanical issue with the delivery truck that was to bring the fruit in on
Saturday morning. Therefore, those who had ordered the oranges and grapefruits
from the Rotary would have only one day to come pick it up.
Bauer said the day had gone well, but at the same time, she is hopeful that the
single pick up day is something the club will not need to repeat in coming
years.
