[December 20, 2021]  Lindsey Burge received the DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Known for her expertise and compassion, Burge, of Lincoln, was nominated by a patient to receive the award, hospital officials said.

In the nomination form for her DAISY Award, the patient said Burge “was a gift throughout our stay. She put my mind at ease, and I appreciate how encouraging she was and how much she felt like a family friend.”

A registered nurse and certified lactation counselor in the Family Maternity Suites at Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Burge has worked at the nonprofit hospital since 2016.

Burge said her greatest passion is helping women as they become mothers. Outside of work, Burge enjoys spending time with her husband, Adam, and her children, Owen and Max.

The nonprofit DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The care Barnes and his family received from nurses during his illness inspired them to create the DAISY Award.
