Pat McDonnough of Mount Pulaski, an entrance attendant and
laboratory courier at Lincoln Memorial Hospital, is the nonprofit
hospital’s Colleague of the Year for 2021.
McDonnough joined Lincoln Memorial Hospital in 2014. Since the start
of the COVID-19 pandemic, McDonnough has made hundreds of patient
specimen deliveries to COVID-19 testing facilities in Springfield to
ensure patients would not have to delay a procedure to wait on
COVID-19 test results. He also spent “many, many” weekends helping
co-workers collect COVID-19 swabs and organize paperwork, said
hospital officials.
“Pat is always willing to make trips [to supply facilities in
Springfield] during off hours for our regular couriers. Our jobs
would be so much more stressful without him,” said one of
McDonnough’s co-workers, who nominated him to receive recognition as
the hospital’s Colleague of the Month for November.
Outside of work, McDonnough enjoys spending time with his wife,
Jane, and his three children, as well as gardening, hunting and
fishing.
