On Monday, December 20th, the crew at
Central Illinois Ag in Atlanta gathered to witness the drawing for a
pink battery-operated riding tractor and wagon winner. Earlier this
year, CIA donated the tractor and wagon to the Friends and Family
Relay Team. Since that time, the relay team has been selling tickets
with help from CIA and the Atlanta National Bank.
Matt Voelker did the honors of drawing out the name while Karen
Hargis of the Friends and Family Relay Team held the box. The name
drawn was Laurie Paige of Lincoln. |

Laurie was notified and the next day
arrived at CIA to collect the prize.
The relay team holds several fundraisers throughout the year to
support the American Cancer Society. Paige is often a supporter. She
annually attends the Pink Pumpkin Auction, donates items to the
auction, and usually purchases several items from the auction.
While visiting with CIA owner Michael Schmidt, Voelker and Hargis,
she said that at the 2021 auction, she had purchased a comforter
made by Kathleen Brumbaugh of Relay for Life survivor t-shirts. She
had then given the comforter to a cancer warrior.
This year, she noted that she purchased raffle tickets on more than
one occasion and thus couldn't say for sure where she bought the
winning ticket.
Paige was very excited about the win and said she knew who would be
receiving the new toy on Christmas morning. The tractor was under
the tree for Paige's only granddaughter.
The Friends and Family Relay Team would like to thank Central
Illinois Ag for their generous donation and a big thank you to those
who sold and purchased tickets.
The entire proceeds of the raffle will go to the American Cancer
Society for use in furthering research and development for cures for
breast cancer. |
