Leon Draisaitl collected a
career-high six assists while Connor McDavid netted one goal and
five points to lead the host Edmonton Oilers to a wild 8-5 victory
over the Ottawa Senators in a 1980s-style throwback affair Sunday
night.
Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, a 2017 third-round draft pick,
made 33 saves to win in his NHL debut.
McDavid has 22 points on the season, while Draisaitl is at 21, the
most by an Oilers player through 11 games since Wayne Gretzky had 26
points in 1987-88. The NHL record for assists in a game is seven,
set by Gretzky (three times) and Billy Taylor in 1947.
Draisaitl became the first NHL player to post six assists in a game
since Philadelphia's Eric Lindros on Feb. 26, 1997 and 29th in
league history. Ottawa has lost eight straight (0-7-1) and
surrendered four or more goals in each of its last seven.
Flyers 4, Islanders 3 (OT)
Kevin Hayes scored a power-play goal with 37.3 seconds remaining in
overtime to lift host Philadelphia past New York.
It was the second overtime win for the Flyers in as many nights
against the Islanders. Joel Farabee scored three goals for his first
career hat trick, while James van Riemsdyk contributed four assists
for the Flyers, who have won four straight. Flyers goaltender Brian
Elliott stopped 33 shots.
Josh Bailey and Barzal each had a goal and an assist for the
Islanders, who dropped their fifth in a row (0-3-2). Nick Leddy
added one goal for New York, while Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin
made 25 saves.
Hurricanes 4, Stars 3 (SO)
Vincent Trocheck scored in a shootout to lift Carolina to a victory
over Dallas in Raleigh, N.C.
Jordan Staal led the Hurricanes with a goal and an assist, while
Brock McGinn and Nino Niederreiter each scored once.
The Stars got a goal and an assist from Jamie Benn, who returned to
the lineup after missing three games with a lower-body injury. Jamie
Oleksiak and Andrew Cogliano added a goal each for the Stars.
Blackhawks 3, Blue Jackets 1
Pius Suter scored the go-ahead goal 7:41 into the third period to
lift host Chicago to a victory over Columbus.
Philipp Kurashev and Patrick Kane collected a goal and an assist
apiece for the Blackhawks, who snapped a three-game skid (0-1-2) and
avenged a 2-1 setback to Columbus on Friday.
Kevin Lankinen made 32 saves to secure Chicago's first win since a
6-2 romp over the Detroit Red Wings last Sunday. Columbus goaltender
Elvis Merzlikins misplayed the puck on two occasions in the third
period, with the miscues directly leading to a pair of goals. Boone
Jenner scored late in the first period for the Blue Jackets, who saw
their seven-game point streak (4-0-3) come to a halt.
Devils 5, Sabres 3
Michael McLeod and Miles Wood each scored twice as visiting New Jersey
snapped a three-game skid with a win over Buffalo.
McLeod, who had one goal in his previous 41 career NHL games, muscled
the puck past Carter Hutton (32 saves) with 9:20 left in the third
period to give New Jersey a 4-3 lead. Wood also recorded an assist as
the Devils rebounded from Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Sabres by
halting an 0-2-1 slide.

for Buffalo, which had earned at least one point in five straight
contests (3-0-2).
Wild 4, Avalanche 3 (OT)
Jonas Brodin scored 18 seconds into overtime, and Minnesota beat
Colorado in Saint Paul, Minn., with the Avalanche losing All-Star
Nathan MacKinnon after two periods.
Victor Rask scored twice, Jordan Greenway had a goal and an assist
and Joel Eriksson Ek had two assists for the Wild. Cam Talbot had 22
saves in his return to the crease, his previous game on Jan. 22 when
he suffered a lower-body injury.
Joonas Donskoi, Cale Makar and Brandon Saad scored and Hunter Miska
stopped 29 shots for the Avalanche, who lost another player to
injury. MacKinnon had two assists for Colorado before leaving with a
lower-body injury, departing after playing the first two periods.
Panthers 3, Red Wings 2
Patric Hornqvist, Aaron Ekblad and Carter Verhaeghe scored one goal
apiece and visiting Florida collected its second victory in as many
nights over Detroit.

season. Chris Driedger made 32 saves, including nine on Red Wings
power plays. The Panthers won the first game, 3-2, in overtime on
Saturday.
Detroit has gone winless in its last six games (0-4-2). Dylan Larkin
and Anthony Mantha scored the Red Wings' goals, while Thomas Greiss
made 27 saves. Tyler Bertuzzi, who usually skates with that duo on
the first line, missed the game with an upper-body injury.
Blues 4, Ducks 1
First St. Louis won on the lead, then it triumphed off the pace,
defeating Anaheim to complete a successful back-to-back set between
the teams at Anaheim, Calif.
The Blues used second-period goals from Brayden Schenn and Sammy
Blais to overcome an early deficit and win one day after they
blitzed the Ducks right from the start in a 6-1 victory. Schenn
finished with two goals in the Blues' third straight win.
The Ducks had a first-period goal from Jakob Silfverberg, but lost
their third consecutive game and fell to 2-3-1 at home. John Gibson
made 19 saves for the Ducks in his third loss in a row after the
Ducks earned a point in his first three games.
