[January 03, 2021]    Washington, D.C. – Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) was sworn in Sunday, January 4, 2021 as the United States Representative for the 18th Congressional District of Illinois for the 117th United States Congress. This will be Rep. LaHood's third full-term in Congress following his first election in 2015. After taking the oath of office, Rep. LaHood released the following statement.

“It has been a distinct honor to serve the people of the18th Congressional District of Illinois over the last five years in the United States Congress. I am humbled to be sworn in today to continue representing the over 700,000 constituents in central and west-central Illinois.

"Although we enter the 117th Congress deeply divided politically, I am hopeful that we can find common ground on policies to support our region and state and get us through the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Since first being elected in 2015, I have made it a priority to provide exceptional constituent service and advance policies that support hardworking families in Illinois. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I intend to continue advancing a pro-growth, pro-trade agenda that will spur economic growth in our rural communities and helps Illinoisans recover from the coronavirus pandemic. These priorities will continue to guide me as I work to address our nation’s challenges while voting on behalf of our Midwestern values held across the 18th District.”
