[January 05, 2021]
After consulting with members of the local
churches and ministry, the Mount Pulaski Community Christmas Cantata
will not be presented this year, due to the coronavirus situation.

With the assembly restrictions in place by the
state, there isn’t a suitable location available to maintain
distancing for the choir, orchestra, and audience without putting
people at risk. Even if restrictions are eased by Christmas, our
rehearsals would also surpass the assembly limits, which would need
to start in early November.
The real concern is the future of the cantata. It has evolved over
the years from one church presenting a program to a community wide
project. Once something has been dropped or eliminated for even one
year, it becomes difficult to get people involved again. The cantata
is a wonderful example of community unity and Christmas spirit with
participants and attendees coming from many of the surrounding
communities.

So the hope is when rehearsals begin for next year’s
cantata, people will once again participate and more people will get
involved. The community has new families moving in, if you have
joined us in the past, reach out to these people and encourage them
to join us.
