On Wednesday, Logan
County Sheriff Mark Landers handed out State of Illinois Life Saving
Awards to the deputies and dispatchers who were directly responsible
for saving the life of Logan County resident Jane Carroll.
Working as a team, the members of the Logan County Sheriff's Office
were able to begin life saving measures from the time the call came
into Logan Dispatch. Deputies responded to the call as they were
closer than the paramedics responding and were able to successfully
save a life through their CPR training.
“A great debt is owed to the men and women who serve so selflessly
for the sake of others,” said Landers.
Via social media, Jane Carroll also commented, “Words can't convey
how grateful I am for these wonderful people. My husband, daughter,
the dispatchers and the first responders. Had they all not responded
as they did, I would not be alive today. The best I can do is thank
you from the bottom of my heart.”
Carroll was on hand for the ceremony along with her husband Dennis
and daughter.
