Eric Haase, who hit two three-run homers on
Saturday, added two hits, one run scored and an RBI as the
Tigers took two of three games to win the weekend series. Harold
Castro chipped in two hits and an RBI.
Detroit starter Matt Manning gave up two runs on seven hits in 2
2/3 innings. Tyler Alexander (1-1) tossed 2 1/3 innings of
one-hit relief to collect the win. Jose Cisnero got the last out
to record his fourth save.
Jose Abreu hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning for
Chicago. He led the White Sox offense with three hits, two runs
scored and four RBIs. Tim Anderson supplied three hits and
scored two runs.
The White Sox still lead the season series 9-4.
Chicago starter Lucas Giolito (6-6) gave up six runs on 10 hits
in five innings. Giolito is 0-3 against Detroit this season.
The Tigers scored a run in the first inning. Baddoo led off with
a single, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and
scored on Robbie Grossman's grounder.
Detroit made it 4-0 in the second. Candelario led off with a
single and Haase followed with a double. A walk to Daz Cameron
loaded the bases and Castro's single brought in a run. One out
later, Baddoo ripped a double to right to knock in two more
runs.
Chicago answered with two runs in the third. Anderson led off
with a single, moved up on a groundout and scored on Abreu's
single. Brian Goodwin's single moved Abreu to third, and he
scored on Leury Garcia's sacrifice fly.
Detroit extended its lead to 6-2 in the fifth. Jonathan Schoop
led off with a single. A Candelario double with two out scored
him. Candelario crossed home plate on a Haase single.
Abreu hit his homer to left off Gregory Soto before the Tigers
replaced him with Cisnero.
