Mount Pulaski was buzzing all weekend long with lots of out of town traffic filling the streets in search of treasures at the town wide garage sales on Friday and Saturday. Word on the street was that Friday was a huge day for garage sales, with lots of people wanting to catch the deals early.

Food was in abundance around town, too. The Boys Scouts held their pork chop sandwich sale on Saturday. The ever-popular mini donuts are a Fourth of July staple at the yard sale at Mary Pope's house. Pope's daughter, Jean Davis, is known around town as the "Donut Lady" and together with family members assisting, they serve up dozens and dozens of these dangerous little sugar treats on Friday and Saturday.

By the time Saturday evening rolled around folks could fill up on delicious food on the town square, as the smell of grilled burgers filled the air in front of the Market on the Hill. The Market on the Hill was celebrating its one year anniversary.

A very popular local food truck, Cheesed OUT, was also on hand to feed the hungry crowd. Follow Cheesed OUT on Facebook to find out where they will be each week. Their homemade cheese sauce is amazing and comes on a variety of foods like the Philly Cheesesteak and the Pulled Pork Nachos.

There was also plenty of live music on the square, with Lee Gibson and his band from Nashville performing on stage in front of The Lucky Lager on Saturday night.

The Mount Pulaski Community Band also entertained a crowd on the courthouse lawn on Sunday evening. Cake and ice cream was also served at the community concert.

Of course, the big attraction of the weekend was the fireworks show at Frazier Park on Saturday night. This year's show was magnificent from the start. The show always ends with a bang and this year was no exception. The grand finale was spectacular, with folks walking away smiling and overheard saying, "That was really awesome!" Clint Myers, Jr. and his crew at American Patriot Pyro, Inc. put on the fireworks display that left a lasting impression with the crowd.

Without a doubt, the nice weather and great crowd turnout made for a nice weekend in the community.
