Leury Garcia went 3-for-4 with a
home run, a triple and three RBIs and Tim Anderson went 4-for-4 as
the Chicago White Sox cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Minnesota
Twins in the rubber game of their three-game series on Wednesday
afternoon in Minneapolis.
Adam Engel had two doubles and two runs and Jake Burger, Brian
Goodwin and Billy Hamilton also each had two hits for Chicago, which
finished with 15 hits, eight for extra bases.
The White Sox improved to 10-2 against Minnesota this season. The
four hits tied a career high for Anderson, who also improved to
12-for-18 in his career against Twins starter Michael Pineda.
Lance Lynn (9-3) picked up the win by allowing one run on four hits
over six innings. He walked three and struck out six.
Trevor Larnach homered and Luis Arraez and Jorge Polanco each had
two hits for Minnesota. Pineda (3-5), making his first start since
June 13, having recovered from right elbow inflammation, allowed
five runs on 12 hits over 5 1/3 innings.
Chicago took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Engel doubled into the
gap in left-center and Garcia followed with his third home run of the
season into the bleachers in right.
Minnesota cut it to 2-1 in the fourth when Larnach led off with his
seventh homer of the season, a 430-foot drive to center. The Twins had a
chance to make it a big inning when Alex Kirilloff and Max Kepler walked
with one out, but Lynn rebounded to strike out Nick Gordon and Ben
Rortvedt.
