[July 13, 2021]  LINCOLN - Marita Schneider, 87, of Lincoln, passed away in her home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Visitation:  9 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Friday, July 9, 2021 at St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln

Service:  10 a.m. Friday at the church

Obituary

Marita Schneider, 87, of Lincoln, passed away in her home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Marita was born on December 5, 1933 in Lincoln, the daughter of Chester and Dorothy (Wilham) Munyon. She married Robert L. Schneider on December 20, 1952, in Council Bluffs, IA. Robert preceded her in death on August 16, 2013.

Marita is survived by her children, David (Jennifer) Schneider of Lincoln, Rebecca (Vardeman) Moore of Dallas, TX, and Barbara Schneider of Dallas, TX; her five grandchildren, Aurelia Ann Moore, Michael David (Michelle) Schneider, Sarah Rose (Sean) Tracey, Robert Griffith Moore, and Timothy Kenneth Schneider; and her five great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Rose, Sadie, Aurin, and Tinley.

Marita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother; and two sisters.

Marita was a longtime member of St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln; where she sang in the choir. Her faithfulness for her church was shown through her service there which ranged from serving on the church council to watering the poinsettias for Christmas.

Marita and her husband Robert loved spending time together driving around to different antique shops where they would look for unusual household items. She had a collection of over 500 egg cups. Marita also enjoyed birdwatching and cooking; her specialties were her German potato salad and her 21 day dill pickles. She and her husband farmed together, gathered eggs, and tended cattle for over 50 years.

Services for Marita will be held at 10:00am on Friday, July 9, 2021 at St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln, with Rev. Bob Sherman officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (9:00am-10:00am) also at the Church. Burial will follow the services at Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.

Memorials made be made in Marita’s name to St. John United Church of Christ.

Services have been entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
