The Railsplitters played at Beardstown on Monday and
broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning to win the game 3-2.
Lincoln scored twice in the top of the first inning.
Dylan Singleton drew a leadoff walk to start the game.
Singleton stole second. After one out, Keagan Ferguson
walked. Singleton and Ferguson went on to steal second
and third with Tanner Strampp up to bat. Strampp hit a
single to left and both runners came racing home to give
the Railsplitters a 2-0 lead.
Beardstown tied the game in the bottom of the third
inning on a two-run double by Jacob Pate.
Lincoln scored the go-ahead run in the top of the fifth
inning. Ferguson was hit by a pitch to start the inning.
Ferguson stole second and went to third on a sacrifice
bunt by Sean Raffa. Lucas Konczyk hit a ground ball to
third and reached on an error. That same error allowed
Ferguson to score from third and Lincoln was on top 3-2.
The inning ended with Konczyk caught stealing between
second and third.
From the bottom of the fifth inning on, the
Railsplitters allowed just one hit.
Lincoln escapes Beardstown with a 3-2 victory.
Wyatt Mammen started the game for Lincoln. He threw two
innings, allowing two hits and two runs. He struck out
three Tigers and walked one.
Sean Raffa pitched five innings and earned the win. He
allowed three hits and no runs. Raffa struck out one
batter.
Lincoln had two hits on the day.
Keagan Ferguson was 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs
scored. Tanner Strampp was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Lincoln improves to 17-9 on the season.
The Railsplitters will play Canton on Friday at 4:30 p.m
in the Regional Semifinal in Lincoln.
