The Railsplitters hosted Mattoon on Saturday and the Green
Wave handed Lincoln a 7-1 loss.
The Green Wave bats pounded out 15 hits against
Railsplitters pitching.
Trent Koehler started the game for the Railsplitters. He
allowed seven hits and five runs over four innings. Koehler
struck out five batters and walked three. He took the loss.
Andrew Graue worked three innings in relief and allowed
eight hits and two runs.
Meade Johnson got the win for Mattoon. He threw a complete
game, allowing just one run on five hits. He struck out
eight Railsplitters.
The Green Wave scored three runs in the top of the third
inning on RBI singles. They added two more runs each in the
fourth and fifth innings.
The Green Wave led 7-0 going into the bottom of the seventh
inning.
Lincoln scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
With one out, Sean Raffa singled to right field to reach
base. Lucas Konczyk was hit by a pitch. A fielder’s choice
by Trey Schilling advanced Raffa to third. Andrew Graue hit
a ground ball to shortstop that scored Raffa with the
Railsplitters lone run. The game ended with Seth Tungate
flying out to center.
The Green Wave won the game by a final score of 7-1.
Sean Raffa was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Lincoln. Keagan
Ferguson was also 2-for-3 at the plate. Trey Schilling was
1-for-3 for the Railsplitters.
Lincoln’s overall record is 16-9.
