[June 07, 2021]    On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, people of all ages participated in the “All for One Color Run,” a “fun-raiser” benefitting Hartsburg and Emden’s upcoming 150th anniversary celebrations.

Before the June 5, 10 a.m. run started, Master of Ceremonies John Robinson introduced Emden Mayor John Snyder and Hartsburg Mayor Norma Bathe.

Mayor Snyder welcomed all who were there reminding them of Emden’s celebration, which will be Friday, July 16 through Sunday, July 18. He then told everyone to enjoy the day's walk and ride.
Mayor Bathe reminded everyone Hartsburg will be having their celebration Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19.

Each of the celebrations will include a variety of activities.

To kick off the color run and upcoming anniversary celebration activities, Lincoln Daily News assisted with a ribbon cutting. After everyone counted down from three, Mayors Snyder and Bathe snipped the ribbon.

Participants in the color run then lined up with bikers first, runners next and walkers last. Each group departed separately so they were safely spread out.
The full course started at the high school ball diamond in Hartsburg and ended at Luther Field and baseball diamond in Emden.

Those who were not able to do the full course could join in at one of the five color stations. These stations were located at the beginning and end of the course, the south and north ends of 700th Avenue between Hartsburg and Emden and midway through this section of 700th Avenue.

At each of color stations, riders, walkers and runners were splattered with a packet of colorful washable chalk. To add in extra fun, participants were encouraged to add their own touches to their outfits with beads, boas, tutus or whatever accessory they chose.

The day’s fun continued at Luther Field where many families were enjoying the nice day. A sign at the field listed the many sponsors who helped make the All for One Color Run possible.

For those who were hungry, the Sons of the American Legion were selling pork chops at the concession stand. Those with a sweet tooth could purchase a cold treat from Top Hat Creamery or cotton candy from We Three Sweets.

Lively pop music playing through speakers provided some entertainment as people visited. A balloon artist was making almost anything the kids asked for.

People could buy meal tickets for the drive-up chicken dinner St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden is having on June 22. Quilt raffle tickets were available for purchase with winners being announced during the Emden homecoming.

Also available for purchase were Hartsburg and Emden 150th anniversary shirts.

Christy Cross, one of the event organizers, is thankful for all the sponsors, event coordinators and participants. Cross said, “We were pleasantly surprised with the amazing turnout and positive attitude from all of today’s participants. Residents from both communities came together to support a cause near and dear to all our hearts. As we had hoped, it was a great day for Hartsburg and Emden to come together in the All for One Color Run.”
