The City of Lincoln and the Third Fridays committee have planned
another great event for this Friday evening, June 18th. Whether you
are wanting to listen to live music, eat delicious food, play games,
shop, or make art, there is something for everyone.
Harmony grits will be performing again on the corner of Pulaski and
Kickapoo to keep the energy fun and moving. Numerous vendors will be
set up along Kickapoo street to sell items, food, play games or
share information about their organization. For the adults, a bags
tournament returns in front of Rusty Rail.
If the weather is warm enough, a large sprinkler will be turned on
and ready to cool the kids down. The kids’ corner which is located
on Broadway and McLean streets will have plenty of fun activities to
keep everyone busy. The Lincoln Park District will be providing
tumbling, axe throwing game, gigantic bubbles, bowling, and mini
golf. CEFCU has sponsored Unique Twist to create amazing balloon
animals.

The Lincoln Arts Institute will open its doors and have a live
musical performance by Denise La Grass from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
This month there will be two artists offering henna tattoos since it
was such a hit. There will also be face painting, printmaking, rock
painting and sidewalk chalk all free of charge.

Artisans will be located on McLean Street with original handmade work for sale.
Each artist brings their own talents to the table. Prices range from $1.00 and
on up.
Several downtown businesses will keep their doors open later to allow for
evening shopping.

As for food, there are plenty of vendors selling items such as walking tacos,
popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, chips, ice cream and drinks. Crossway church
is providing free hot dogs and water. Mission Community Church of God is giving
away free frozen treats. Sorrento’s will have pizza by the slice and both
Alley-Bi and Mama’s Arcade will be selling their famous cheeseburgers. Top Hat
will be open for dessert.
Third Fridays will be scheduled for June 18 and July 16, and of course, will be
subject to weather conditions.
The committee is excited to continue these events and hopeful that all will come
for an evening of fun, food and live entertainment.
