Good luck to several athletes from the LCHS
Boys Track and Field team who will be participating in the Class
2A IHSA State Track and Field tournament at Eastern Illinois
University in Charleston on Friday.
Overall the Railers placed fourth at the Sectional last week at
Springfield Lanphier’s Memorial Stadium.
Garrett Slack won the Sectional Championship in the 400m with a
PR of 50.39.
Brenden Heitzig got second in Sectionals in the 3200m with a
time of 10.30.72. The winner, Jackson Collman from Bethalto,
just barely edged Heitzig with a winning time of 10:30.36.
The 4x400 Relay team won the Sectional Championship with a time
of 3:28.63. Drake Rutledge, Aidan Gowin, Jalen Franz and Garrett
Slack make up this team. Ben Crombie and Luke Jones are
alternates on the 4x400 Relay team.
The 4x800 Relay team won the Sectional Championship with a time
of 8:16.50. Drake Rutledge, Brenden Heitzig, Aidan Gowin and
Garrett Slack make up this team. Jayson Butler is the alternate
on the 4x800 Relay team.
