The Mount Pulaski Hilltoppers brought home the
4th Place trophy from the IHSA Class 1A Boys Baseball State
Tournament in Normal on Thursday.
Mount Pulaski lost in the semifinal game at 1:00 p.m. to Farina
South Central by a final score of 11-5.
In the third place game at 4:20 p.m. Mount Pulaski lost to
Newark 6-2.
The Hilltoppers were honored with a police escort back into
town, where laps were made around the town square with
firetrucks and emergency vehicles participating, too. A crowd of
happy Hilltopper fans showed out in support of the team,
celebrating the first state trophy for the baseball team in
school history. The players and coaches got off the school bus
in front of Pizza Man and were treated to a small town street
party, with picnic tables set up outside for everyone’s
enjoyment. Lots of pizza was devoured, lots of smiles were
flashed, and lots of memories were made on this historic day.
Congratulations, Hilltoppers!
Full story coming in Saturday’s edition.
