			Starlin Castro went 3 for 4 with 
			three RBIs and delivered a go-ahead, two-run single in the ninth to 
			propel the Washington Nationals to a wild 13-12 comeback win over 
			the host Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday afternoon. 
			 
			The Nationals erased three deficits overall, including five-run and 
			four-run Phillies leads, on their way to their fourth consecutive 
			victory. The Phillies lost their third in a row and sixth in their 
			past eight games. 
			 
			Hector Neris (1-4) gave up back-to-back singles to Josh Bell and 
			Josh Harrison to open the ninth, setting up Castro's go-ahead hit. 
			It was Neris' fifth blown save. Washington's Paolo Espino picked up 
			his first career save. 
			 
			Trea Turner went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, and Bell went 2 for 4 and 
			hit his second career grand slam in the sixth off reliever David 
			Hale, which capped a six-run inning and gave the Nationals an 11-9 
			lead. 
			 
			Giants 9, Angels 3 (13) 
			 
			Mike Tauchman's three-run home run capped a seven-run 13th inning 
			that lifted San Francisco to a victory over Los Angeles in Anaheim, 
			Calif. 
		
		  
		 
			 
			The Giants took advantage of four walks in the inning, including one 
			intentional walk, by the Angels bullpen to complete a two-game 
			series sweep and win for the eighth time in nine games. The Angels 
			have dropped three in a row. 
			 
			The Angels had to play much of the 12th inning with pitcher Griffin 
			Canning in left field and Taylor Ward moving from left field to 
			catcher, a position he had not played since 2017 when he was in the 
			minors. 
			 
			White Sox 4, Pirates 3 
			 
			Yasmani Grandal hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the fifth inning 
			as Chicago snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over host 
			Pittsburgh. 
			 
			Leury Garcia added a solo homer and Tim Anderson an RBI double for 
			the White Sox, who split a two-game set in Pittsburgh. Chicago 
			starter Dylan Cease (6-3) allowed two runs, one earned, and seven 
			hits in 5 2/3 innings, with one walk and seven strikeouts. 
			 
			Ke'Bryan Hayes hit a pair of RBI singles for the Pirates, who had 
			won three of four. Pittsburgh starter Chase De Jong (0-2) pitched 4 
			2/3 innings, giving up four runs and seven hits, with two walks and 
			six strikeouts. 
			 
			Tigers 6, Cardinals 2 
			 
			Jonathan Schoop homered and drove in three runs, Matt Manning 
			notched his first major league victory and host Detroit topped St. 
			Louis to sweep the two-game interleague series. 
			 
			Schoop's long ball was his 10th this month and 15th of the season. 
			Daz Cameron also homered and scored two runs for the Tigers. Manning 
			(1-1) gave up two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked two 
			and struck out one. 
			 
			Cardinals starter John Gant (4-6) lasted just three-plus innings and 
			gave up three runs on two hits and four walks while fanning four. 
			Nolan Arenado homered for St. Louis, and Lars Nootbaar contributed 
			his first major league hit, a triple, and scored a run. 
			 
			Rockies 5, Mariners 2 
			 
			German Marquez allowed just one run on two hits in eight innings and 
			Trevor Story hit two home runs as Colorado defeated host Seattle. 
			 
			The Rockies, who won for just the sixth time in 34 road games this 
			season. Marquez (6-6) retired the first 17 he faced before Seattle's 
			Taylor Trammell hit a solo shot with two outs in the sixth inning. 
			Rockies leadoff hitter Raimel Tapia went 0-for-4 with a walk, ending 
			the majors' longest active hitting streak at 18 games. 
			 
			The Mariners had their five-game winning streak snapped, which 
			equaled a season high, and finished 7-2 on their nine-game 
			homestand. 
			 
			Brewers 3, Diamondbacks 2 
			 
			The Brewers took the rubber match 3-2 with the hapless Diamondbacks, 
			losers of 33 of their last 36, thanks to Brandon Woodruff, who 
			tossed seven good innings and knocked in a run to help his own 
			cause. 
			 
			Woodruff (6-3) finished with nine strikeouts and allowed one run on 
			three hits with two walks. 
			 
			The Brewers were paced offensively by Tyrone Taylor and Jace 
			Peterson, who each recorded a pair of hits, and Avisail Garcia, who 
			drove in a run and drew two walks. 
			 
			Astros 13, Orioles 0 
			 
			Abraham Toro hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs, and Jose 
			Urquidy threw seven solid innings as Houston won its 10th straight 
			game by blanking host Baltimore. 
			 
			The victory let the Astros complete a sweep of the three-game series 
			with the Orioles, who now have dropped five straight games. Houston 
			outscored Baltimore 26-3 in this series. 
			 
			Jose Altuve, Yordan Alvarez and Chas McCormick also homered for 
			Houston, and Kyle Tucker returned from the injured list and went 
			2-for-3 with an RBI. Urquidy (6-3) has won six of his last seven 
			decisions. The right-hander gave up just three hits, striking out

			Adolis Garcia belted two solo homers to give him a team-leading 20 
			and Nate Lowe also went deep to lift Texas over Oakland in 
			Arlington, Texas. 
			 
			Jonah Heim ripped an RBI double and Brock Holt had a run-scoring 
			single for the Rangers, who have won two of the first three contests 
			of the four-game series. Sean Murphy homered and Skye Bolt and Matt 
			Chapman each added an RBI single for the Athletics, who have lost 
			four of their past five games. 
			 
			Oakland's Yusmeiro Petit (7-1) relieved starter James Kaprielian to 
			start the inning and promptly saw Lowe deposit his first-pitch 
			changeup over the wall in center field. Petit gave up two runs in 
			one inning. Winning pitcher Brett Martin (2-2) did not allow a hit 
			over 1 2/3 scoreless innings. 
			 
			Yankees 6, Royals 5 
			 
			Luke Voit hit a game-winning single with one out in the ninth inning 
			and New York survived a meltdown by Aroldis Chapman to pull out a 
			victory over Kansas City at Yankee Stadium. 
			 
			Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez hit a tying homer off Greg Holland 
			(2-3) by lining a 1-2 fastball down the left field line for his 12th 
			homer in the ninth. Voit won it with his first career walk-off hit 
			and second career walk-off RBI. 
			 
			Kansas City left-hander Danny Duffy issued three walks in two 
			scoreless innings in his return from missing 31 games with a forearm 
			strain. 
			
			
			  
			Mets 7, Braves 3 
			 
			Francisco Lindor's two-run homer highlighted a three-run second 
			inning, and New York salvaged a split a four-game set with Atlanta 
			in Queens, N.Y. 
			 
			Lindor also added a late RBI single, Jeff McNeil recorded three hits 
			with an RBI and Michael Conforto -- back from more than a month down 
			with a hamstring injury -- had two hits and scored twice for the 
			Mets, who posted 13 hits. In his big-league debut, New York's Tylor 
			Megill pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and 
			two walks. He struck out four. 
			 
			Freddie Freeman had four hits and Austin Riley doubled twice for the 
			Braves, who lost for the third time in eight games. Wright (0-1, 
			9.95 ERA), called up from Triple-A Gwinnett with Max Fried (blister) 
			on the injured list, allowed five runs, plus four hits, three walks 
			and a strikeout in just two innings for Atlanta. 
			 
			Rays 8, Red Sox 2 
			 
			Austin Meadows, Mike Zunino and Brandon Lowe cracked home runs as 
			Tampa Bay snapped its season-worst seven-game losing streak with a 
			win over Boston in St. Petersburg, Fla. 
			 
			Meadows popped his club-leading 16th homer in the first, Zunino 
			added his 15th in the second and Lowe unloaded his 14th in the 
			seventh for the Rays, who inched to within a half-game of the 
			American League East-leading Red Sox by beating them for the first 
			time in five tries. 
			 
			Boston's Garrett Richards (4-5) was roughed up for five runs (four 
			earned) and three hits and lasted just 1 2/3 innings. He walked four 
			and hit a batter in a tedious 54-pitch start. 
			 
			Blue Jays 3, Marlins 1 
			 
			Bo Bichette, who leads the majors with 61 runs scored, played a key 
			role in a pair of rallies, propelling Toronto to a win over host 
			Miami. 
			 
			Toronto took all four games from Miami this season, including both 
			contests in the just-concluded series. The Blue Jays have won four 
			in a row overall while the Marlins have dropped three straight. 
			 
			Robbie Ray (5-3) earned the win, allowing four hits, one walk and 
			one run in six innings. He struck out six. 
			 
			Padres 5, Dodgers 3 
			 
			Trent Grisham drew a tiebreaking, bases-loaded walk in the eighth 
			inning and host San Diego beat Los Angeles to complete a three-game 
			sweep. 
			 
			San Diego earned its seventh straight victory overall. Los Angeles 
			entered the series with six wins in its past seven games. 
			 
			Jake Cronenworth, Manny Machado and Victor Caratini homered for the 
			Padres. Tim Hill (4-3) got the win after retiring the only batter he 
			faced to end the top of the eighth. Max Muncy had two of Los 
			Angeles' five hits and scored twice. Losing pitcher Blake Treinen 
			(1-3) gave up two runs on two hits in one inning.
