[March 15, 2021]  MASON CITY - Rita Grubb, 79, of Mason City passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the Mason City Nursing Home, in Mason City.

Visitation:  10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Service:  A private family service will be held.

Obituary

Rita Grubb, 79, of Mason City passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at the Mason City Nursing Home, in Mason City.

Rita was born on July 11, 1941 in Marienville, PA; daughter of Harvey and Violet (Altman) Felton. She married Norman Grubb in 1959, he preceded her in death on July 2, 1984. She met her companion: Donald Boward in 1986 and he preceded her in death in 2006.

Surviving Rita are her children: Sharon (Dan) Ferguson and Daniel (Tammy) Grubb; grandchildren: Brad (Annie) Ferguson, Matt (Karrie) Ferguson, Ryan (Allie) Ferguson, Sean (Cassidy) Ferguson, and Bill (Kelsey) Freeman; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Brian Grubb; and three brothers.

Rita liked to play bingo and played the slot machines, but more than anything she loved her family and friends. She rarely missed any sporting event her grandsons or great-grandsons played. She retired in 2002 from Myers Industry, after 33 years of service.

Visitation for Rita will be from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A private family service will be held.

Memorials may be made in Rita’s name to the American Cancer Society.

She will be remembered by her smile and ability to tell it how it was.
