The baskets were put together as part of the theme of
the week of "Sent to Serve." Children enjoyed the theme and utilized
it as their public service project, serving those who serve our
			community daily.

Throughout the week, students were asked to
contribute items to place in the large plastic tubs. They collected
a wide variety of treats and sweets according to their grade level.

When the tubs were all filled, each contained fresh
fruit, candy, cookies, crackers, chips, and granola bars.
Students also wrote thank you notes with personalized
artwork. The hand-made cards were placed inside the tubs before they
			were delivered.

			Memorial Hospital

Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital received three tubs
to share among the different departments and shifts.
Other local agencies that received the thank you tubs included:

Logan County Department of Public Health

				Logan County Sheriff's Department

				City of Lincoln Police Department

				Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District

				City of Lincoln Fire Department

				Logan County Paramedics Association

				Lincoln Post Office

			 Lincoln Post Office

Afterward, the students were also delighted when they
discovered that many of the agencies receiving gifts posted about
the act of kindness on respective social media pages.
So while the project was intended to spread joy to others, that joy
was returned twofold, first in the joy found in performing an act of
kindness and second in the joy found when others express
			appreciation for the service.
