Effingham sweeps Lincoln in doubleheader

The Lady Railers hosted Effingham on Saturday in a doubleheader and it
was the Flaming Hearts winning game one 3-1 and winning game two 10-1.
Game One
Effingham scored a run off starter Cara Farnam in the top of the first
inning.
The Flaming Hearts added another run in the top of the fifth inning to
lead 2-0.
Lincoln got a run in the bottom of the fifth inning when Malena Kirgan
hit a triple to score her sister, Mya, with the lone run of the game for
Lincoln. Lincoln trailed 2-1.
Effingham added a run in the top of the sixth inning and went on to win
by a final of 3-1.
Emily Paulus was 2-for-5 for Lincoln. Abbie Glenn, Cara Farnam, Ryen
Stoltzenburg and Malena Kirgan each had one hit for the Lady Railers.

Jaidi Davis got the win for Effingham. Davis struck out 11 batters.
Cara Farnam took the loss for the Lady Railers. She struck out six
batters and walked one.

Game Two
Effingham scored early and often in game two versus Lincoln. The
Flaming Hearts led 6-0 after two innings of play. Effingham plated
four runs in the top of the fourth inning to lead 10-0.
Lincoln avoided the shutout by scoring
in the bottom of the fifth inning. Abbie Glenn singled with one out.
Cara Farnam doubled to right field, advancing Glenn to third. A
groundout by Cassie Bridge drove Glenn home with the only Lady
Railer run of the game.
Effingham wins 10-1 in five innings.
Taylor Armstrong picks up the win for Effingham.
Abbie Glenn was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Lincoln. Cara Farnam,
Malena Kirgan and Chloe Johnston each had a hit for the Lady Railers.
Chloe Johnston was in the circle for the Lady Railers. She suffered
the loss. Johnston surrendered 14 hits and allowed ten runs over
five innings of work.
Lincoln’s record falls to 4-4.
