Obituary
Sara J. Doering Hauter, 94, of San
Jose, went to heaven on Tuesday, April 21st at home
following a heart attack. She had been in good
health and mind. Her will began, “Well, it was my
time. Time to move on. I have heard death is not a
period that signifies the end of life; it is a
semi-colon that separates two parts of it.”
Sara was born September 13th, 1926, in East Peoria,
the daughter of Margaret (Bachman) and William
Doering. She attended Roosevelt Grade School,
Central Junior High and East Peoria High School,
Class of ’44. She graduated from Illinois State
Normal University in 1947 with a degree in Family
Consumer Services and later taught Home Economics at
Morton High School.
Sara married Dean Hauter, October 31st, 1947 and
moved to San Jose where he served the community as a
family medical doctor. Sara is survived by their two
children, Sara (Sally) Doering Hauter (Rod), and Dru
Doering Hauter, MD (Marcia); two grandchildren,
Emily Wilkins (Evan), and Ben Hauter, MD (Brittany);
one great-grandchild, Parker Wilkins; two nephews,
William Haydary and Fred (Fritz) Haydary.

She was preceded in death by her
husband, Dean, her parents, and two sisters, Barbara
Healy and Laura Haydary.
Services will be held at the San Jose
United Methodist Church, Tuesday, the 27th at 11:00
am, with visitation at 10:00 am. Internment
following at Green Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in
Sara’s name to the San Jose United Methodist Women
for local ministries.
