Obituary
Homer Sheley, 88, of Lincoln passed
away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at his home
surrounded by his loving family.
Homer was born on December 5, 1932 in Lincoln, son
of Elmer Cleveland and Georgia Irene (Sparks) Sheley.
He married Gwendolyn Halsey on September 15, 1952 in
Havana. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1998.
Homer is survived by his children: Marla Sheley and
Clint (Pat) Sheley both of Lincoln; grandchildren:
Candace (Henry) Van Bogaert and Ryan (Kati) Sheley;
great grandchildren: Noah, Alyssa, Morgan, and
Brooklyn; his siblings: Wayne Sheley, James (Joni)
Sheley, Robert Sheley, and Jessie Rankin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his
brothers: Howard, George, and Richard, his sisters:
Dorothy Snyder, Virginia Klockenga, Mildred Maaks,
and Betty Downs. |
Homer proudly served his country in
the United States Army and was a member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church in Lincoln. He was a farmer in
Lincoln for most of his life. He was the Chester
Township Road Commissioner from 1986-2012.
A time of visitation will take place from 2:00-5:00
p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. A
graveside service for Homer will be 1:00 p.m.
Monday, April 26, 2021 at Zion Cemetery in Lincoln,
with Rev. Brian Wachendorf officiating.
Memorials may be made in Homer’s name to Safe Haven
Hospice or the National Kidney Foundation.
