[May 07, 2021]   WLCN 96.3 FM will provide online-only, livestream video coverage of two upcoming Lincoln Community High School events.

On May 1, WLCN will be on hand in downtown Lincoln for the LCHS Grand March, held prior to prom. The grand march is scheduled to start at 5 pm at the Logan County Courthouse.

On May 8, WLCN will provide live coverage of the LCHS Senior Graduation Parade. The parade is slated to begin at 5 PM; WLCN will livestream video coverage from downtown Lincoln as the parade reaches the downtown area.

“WLCN is proud to present coverage of these events,” said Jim Ash, general manager of WLCN. “Our coverage of the grand march was initiated by Jeff Maxwell, and we are happy this tradition will continue, thanks to grand march coordinator Kathie Williams.”

Maxwell, known as “Jeff Number 2” to WLCN listeners, was marketing manager and morning show co-host at WLCN prior to his untimely passing in February. He organized and coordinated all aspects of the grand march for the last several years, not only WLCN’s coverage of the event.

Williams, owner of Small Town Creations in Lincoln, is serving as grand march coordinator.

Coverage will be available online only and not via the FM radio station. The live videostream can be accessed at WLCNOnline.com by clicking the Watch live button on the homepage. For those unable to watch the events live, recordings of the events will be archived on the WLCN YouTube page.

Since 2018, WLCN has provided livestream video coverage of several LCHS athletic events, including football and boys and girls basketball. In addition, WLCN livestreams other events, such as the Logan County Fair Queen contest, the Logan County Boys basketball tournament, local IESA boys and girls basketball state tournament games and the weekly Cheap Seats Saturday Morning Sports Show.

WLCN’s coverage of these events is sponsored by: United Community Bank; Graue, Inc.; Heartland Community College; Lincoln Park District; The Christian Village; Chicago Street Rentals; Lincoln College; and State Bank of Lincoln, a Division of Heartland Bank & Trust Company.
