The Lincoln Railsplitters bats pounded out 10
hits on Thursday afternoon at Rochester and beat the Rockets
10-1.
The Railsplitters were quick to load the bases in the top of the
first inning. Back-to-back singles by Dylan Singleton and Trent
Koehler started the offense. Keagan Ferguson was hit by a pitch
to load the bases for Tanner Strampp. Strampp’s sacrifice fly
allowed Singleton to score with the first run of the game. Sean
Raffa’s single to right scored Koehler with the second run of
the game. Lincoln led 2-0.
Andrew Graue started the Railsplitters half of the second inning
with a single and a stolen base. He came around to score when
Singleton hit a line drive to center. Following a walk to
Koehler and a single by Ferguson, the bases were loaded with
Railsplitters again. Strampp was then hit by a pitch and
Singleton trotted home to score. Lincoln was on top 4-0. Lincoln
scored two more runs in the inning after the shortstop committed
back-to-back errors. Lincoln led 6-0 over the Rockets.
Strampp drove in a run for the Railsplitters in the top of the
third to pad the lead. Lincoln was cruising 7-0 over Rochester.
The Rockets score their only run of the game in the bottom of
the fourth inning off Strampp.
Moving right along to the top of the fifth inning the
Railsplitters rattled the bats again. An RBI double by Koehler
scored Seth Tungate. A sacrifice fly to center by Strampp scored
Koehler with the ninth run in the game.
An RBI single by Raffa in the top of the seventh inning set the
score at 10-1.
Strampp took the mound again in the bottom of the seventh inning
and retired the side on two fly balls and a strikeout.
Lincoln wins 10-1 over Rochester.
Tanner Strampp earned the win for Lincoln. He tossed the
complete seven inning game and allowed just one run on four
hits. Strampp struck out six batters.
Keagan Ferguson led the Railsplitters offense with a 3-for-3
performance and a run scored. Sean Raffa was 3-for-5 with two
RBIs. Trent Koehler was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Andrew
Graue and Dylan Singleton each had a hit for Lincoln. Tanner
Strampp drove in four runs for the Railsplitters.
Lincoln improves to 9-2 on the season.
The Railsplitters host Mount Zion on Saturday in a doubleheader
scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
