The Lady Railers traveled to Teutopolis on Tuesday afternoon
and suffered a 4-1 loss to the Wooden Shoes in an Apollo
Conference game.
The Wooden Shoes started the game with back-to-back singles
and scored their first run on a ground out by Tia Probst in
the first inning.
The Shoes added two more runs in the bottom of the third
inning. A two-run double by Probst did the damage in the
third inning. Teutopolis was on top 3-0.
The Lady Railers got on the board in the top of the sixth
inning when Cara Farnam led off the inning with a triple and
scored on a ground out by Ryen Stoltzenburg.
Teutopolis got the run back in the bottom of the sixth
inning on an RBI single to take a 4-1 lead.
Lincoln was retired quickly in the top of the seventh inning
and the Shoes walked home with the 4-1 win.
Lincoln had three hits in the game. Emily Paulus and Cara
Farnam each tripled. Abbie Glenn had a single. Ryen
Stoltzenburg had the lone RBI for Lincoln.
Cara Farnam took the loss for the Lady Railers. Farnam
allowed four runs and seven hits over six innings. She
struck out five batters.
Tia Probst earned the win for Teutopolis. Probst pitched
seven innings, allowing one run on three hits. She struck
out eight batters.
Probst was 2-for-3 in the batter’s box with three RBIs. Erin
Althoff was 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
Lincoln falls to 6-9 on the season.
