Tri-City/Sangamon Valley defeats Lincoln 17-1

The Lady Railers played against Tri-City/Sangamon Valley last
Thursday afternoon and the Tornadoes tore right through the Lincoln
lineup. The Tornadoes pounded out 15 hits and scored 17 runs off
Lincoln pitching.
Abbie Glenn started the game for Lincoln and she took the loss. She
lasted one inning, giving up four hits and six runs. Chloe Johnston
pitched in relief and tossed two and one-thirds innings, allowing 11
hits and 11 runs.
Lincoln scored their only run of the game in the top of the fourth
inning. Abbie Glenn doubled to lead off the inning. She advanced to
third on a groundout by Cara Farnam. With two outs in the inning,
Mya Kirgan doubled to bring home Glenn with the Railers only run of
the game.
The Tornadoes were a force to be reckoned with from the start,
putting up six runs in the first inning. In the second inning the
Tornadoes crossed the plate four times. The Tornadoes crushed three
doubles and three singles in the inning to score four runs all
before a single out was recorded. The third inning again saw the
Tornadoes plate four runs. With two outs and the bases loaded first
baseman Kelsey Bruno slugged a grand slam to center. The score was
14-0 after three innings of play.

Grace Blair added a three-run shot in
the bottom of the fourth inning and that ended the game with the
score 17-1.
Offensively for Lincoln, Abbie Glenn was 2-for-2 and Mya Kirgan was
1-for-2 with an RBI.
The Tornadoes offense was led by a trio of heavy hitters. Kelsey
Bruno was 3-for-3 with six RBIs and two runs scored. Kenzie Krider
was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Grace Blair was
3-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs scored.
Daleney Chumbley earned the win for the Tornadoes. She allowed three
hits and one run over four innings of work. Chumbley struck out 10
Lady Railers.
The Tornadoes improved to 8-1 on the season.
Lincoln falls to 4-6 on the season.
