Nolan Arenado had three hits and
drove in a run as the visiting St. Louis Cardinals posted a 2-0 win
over the Milwaukee Brewers in the rubber match of a three-game
series on Thursday.
Arenado's two-out single off right-hander Corbin Burnes (2-3) in the
first inning scored Tommy Edman, who singled to lead off the game.
Burnes set the all-time record for consecutive strikeouts without a
walk, extending his run to 58 before issuing his first free pass of
the season in the fifth inning. The old mark of 56 was held by
Gerrit Cole (2021) and Curt Schilling (2002), with Cole's streak
still active.
The old record for strikeouts without a walk to begin a season was
51, held by Kenley Jansen (2017).

innings for St. Louis, which won for the 15th time in its last 20

with an apparent hand injury.
Astros 4, Rangers 3 (11)
Myles Straw scored on a wild pitch with two outs in the 11th inning
as Houston claimed a walk-off victory over visiting Texas.
With the bases loaded and Chas McCormick facing a 1-2 count, Texas
left-hander Brett Martin uncorked a curveball that handcuffed
catcher Jonah Heim and allowed Straw to score from third base.
Houston managed just three runs in five innings off Mike Foltynewicz,
all of them coming on a bases-clearing double by Jose Altuve with
one out in the second inning. Foltynewicz gave up eight hits and
three walks while striking out three.

outs in the ninth but then walked the next three batters to load the
bases. Bryan Shaw came on to strike out Luis Torrens for his first

on for a win to complete a three-game sweep over visiting Minnesota.

Atlanta right fielder Ronald Acuna Jr., the major league home run
leader, had to leave the game in the seventh inning with an ankle
