 Lincoln Christian University hosted its annual
Christian Women’s Conference this week on Wednesday. The guest
speakers for the day were Alli Worthington and Christy Nockels. The
two spoke based on the program theme “Be still.”
Worthington is a public speaker, podcaster, teacher and author from
Tennessee.
She has written a book entitled “Breaking Busy and
Standing Strong.” On Wednesday her talk focused on the general
concept of her book. As she walked through the choices we have to
break free of the guilt of not being able to do it all on our own
and stop to listen to what God has to say, and what He is preparing
for us in the future. The choice comes down to who will you follow,
those who constantly want from you and expect you to fulfill their
demands, or will you instead stop and listen to that small voice
inside and find what God is telling you and gifting to you.
Nockels is a singer and songwriter. She was involved
with the Passion Conference in Austin Texas, and that led to a
fifteen year career of writing and leading worship for the Passion
Movement. She too is a podcaster and recently launched a new podcast
program entitled “The Glorious in the Mundane.”
Nockels’ discussion was titled “Living and serving from rest.”

Both speakers testimonies spoke to the importance of
growth, pruning, and rest, and how those concepts should be a part
of everyone’s life journey.
They commented that our world is currently coming out of a time when
life slowed down, though not willingly for some. However, it has
changed us all, and the question now is will we “Rev back up” and
stay constantly “busy” or will we make different choices, such as
prioritizing and staying grounded in God’s word and the voice of the
One who loves us best.
The event was well attended as many women looked to be refreshed and
renewed after this year of the pandemic. As the day progressed the
joy and easy feeling in the auditorium of the Earl C. Hargrove
Chapel made it abundantly clear that all were blessed and revived by
the day of Christian fellowship.
