Lincoln Community Theatre is excited to return this summer after a
brief hiatus in 2020. LCT Board President Brandon Davis is thrilled
to announce that work is already underway to bring quality family
entertainment back to our community with two productions in the
works for summer 2021.
LCT will present a new Youth Theater Production called The Grunch.
Inspired by “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” The Grunch tells the
story of Rudy Grunch, a grumpy 6th grader who always feels like an
outsider. When the entire school gets excited about the annual
school musical, he comes up with a perfect plan to ruin it for
everyone; he’ll steal the sets, costumes and lights the night before
it opens. But will the spirit of theatre prevail?
Theatre lovers will enjoy catching references to all their favorite
Broadway shows. “The Grunch” will be presented on June 25-27 in the
auditorium at Lincoln Community High School. The show features 30
young actors and is directed by Tim Searby and Sheralyn Bolton.
In August, the classic musical Once Upon a Mattress will be sure to
delight theatergoers with its zany antics and fun score. A
contemporary take on the classic fairytale, the Princess and the
Pea, Once Upon a Mattress tells the story of the brave and strong
Princess Winnifred who comes to the rescue of a kingdom in need of a
new outlook on love, leadership, and life.
Filled with hummable tunes, plenty of laughs, and a
happily-ever-after, this comedic musical has something for everyone.
The musical will be presented August 4-8, also at LCHS, and will be
directed by Brandon Davis.

LCT will follow all guidelines set forth by the CDC for these two productions,
focusing on their dedication to keeping the cast, crews and audiences as safe as
possible.
As Illinois and surrounding areas begin to open up, LCT hopes to be a beacon for
the Lincoln/Logan County community’s sense of normalcy. While some patrons may
still not feel comfortable in participating in or attending a production just
yet, LCT will be around ready to welcome them back when they are more
comfortable. In the meantime, LCT hopes to fill the artistic void that has been
felt by so many in the community.
For the first time, LCT will be presenting their productions in the LCHS
Auditorium. This venue will provide ample space for the performers and audience
to spread out comfortably this summer. It will also provide the community the
opportunity to see the ongoing efforts made to make LCHS a true “Community” high
school.
