The Lincoln Railsplitters hosted Staunton on
Wednesday afternoon and suffered a 2-1 loss in extra
innings.
Staunton scored a run off Lincoln’s Lucas
Konczyk in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Tanner
Strampp led things off with a single to left. Konczyk came
up to bat and hit a single to left. Sean Raffa then hit a
bunt single back to the pitcher to load the bases for Seth
Tungate. Tungate walked and that allowed pinch runner Scotty
Battin to score the tying run. Staunton escaped further
damage by getting Trey Schilling to pop out in foul
territory and Daulton Miller to ground out into a double
play. Staunton escapes the inning with a 1-1 tie.
Dylan Singleton had a hit in the
Railsplitters half of the seventh inning, but he was
stranded at third when Keagan Ferguson struck out to end the
inning.
In the top of the eighth inning, Frank Goss
sent the first pitch over the left field fence and Staunton
was back on top 2-1. Konczyk retired the next three batters
in order.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Staunton
pitching recorded two quick outs and then issued two walks.
Schilling was then retired on a fly out to center to end the
game.
Staunton wins the game 2-1 over Lincoln.
Lucas Konczyk took the loss for the
Railsplitters. Konczyk tossed eight innings, allowing two
runs on seven hits. He struck out three batters and did not
allow a walk.
Lincoln had eight hits in the game.
Dylan Singleton and Tanner Strampp were each
2-for-3 with a walk. Keagan Ferguson was 2-for-4. Lucas
Konczyk was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Sean Raffa was
1-for-3. Seth Tungate had the only RBI for Lincoln.
The Railsplitters fall to 13-5 on the season.
Lincoln will host Auburn on Friday at 4:30
p.m.
