Lady Railers split with Mahomet-Seymour

The Lady Railers were on the road Saturday to take on
Mahomet-Seymour and it was a split for the two teams. The Bulldogs
won game one 3-0 over Lincoln. The Lady Railers won game two 6-5 in
extra innings.
Game One
The Lady Railers had hits in the top of the fourth inning by Emily
Paulus and Ryen Stoltzenburg, but could not get any runs across.
The Bulldogs scored all three runs in the bottom of the fifth
inning.
In the top of the seventh inning the Lady Railers managed two
baserunners, but they were left stranded at second and third when
Chloe Johnston struck out to end the game.
The Bulldogs won the game 3-0.
Cara Farnam suffered the loss for Lincoln. Farnam tossed six
innings, allowing three runs on five hits. She struck out five
batters.
Lincoln had just three hits in the game. Ryen Stoltzenburg had two
hits and Emily Paulus had one hit.
The Lady Railers committed three errors in the field.
Game Two
Heading into the top of the seventh inning, the Bulldogs led the
Lady Railers 4-0.
Lincoln only had one hit going into the seventh inning, a fourth
inning single by Cara Farnam.
Farnam would lead off the seventh inning with a single to center.
Following a ground out by Ryen Stoltzenburg, Mya Kirgan singled to
left to bring home Farnam. Malena Kirgan reached base on a fielder’s
choice, leaving Lincoln down to their final out of the game,
trailing 4-1. Chloe Johnston came up clutch with a double on the
spot, advancing Malena Kirgan to third. Cassie Bridge then sent a
line drive to right field for a hit and coupled with an error, the
Lady Railers scored twice. Riley Tungate followed with a single to
short and Bridge hustled over to third. Tungate swiped second base
and with a 1-1 count, Emily Paulus doubled to left to score both
Bridge and Tungate. The Lady Railers took the lead, 5-4, over
Mahomet-Seymour.

The Bulldogs had three singles in the
bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game 5-5 and send it into
extra innings.
In the top of the eighth inning, Cara Farnam led off by launching a
2-0 count over the center field fence good for a home run. The Lady
Railers were on top 6-5.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Farnam allowed a one-out single
and then the Lincoln defense turned a game-ending double play.
A great finish to an exciting come-from-behind 6-5 win for the Lady
Railers.
Chloe Johnston earned the win for Lincoln. She was in the circle,
throwing all eight innings. Johnston gave up five runs on ten hits
and struck out four batters.
Cara Farnam led the Lincoln offense with a 3-for-4 performance at
the plate. Farnam scored twice and drove in one run. Her
game-winning home run in the eighth inning is no doubt a highlight
of the Lady Railers season so far.
Scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the lead
will no doubt make the highlight reel also. The Lady Railers tallied
eight hits in the game.
Cassie Bridge was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Emily
Paulus was 1-for-4 with two RBIs. Mya Kirgan was 1-for-4 with an
RBI. Riley Tungate was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Chloe Johnston was
1-for-3 with a run scored.
The Lady Railers record is now 8-12 on the season.
The Lady Railers will host Warrensburg-Latham today at 4:30 p.m.
