Railsplitters fall to Charleston 11-6

Lincoln was on the road again Tuesday to take on Charleston
and it was the Trojans coming up with seven runs in the late innings
to take the 11-6 win.
The Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off
Lincoln starter Sean Raffa.
Lincoln tied the game in the second inning on a two-out single by
Trent Koehler that scored two runs.
The Railsplitters put together a big inning in the top of the third
when Tanner Strampp drew a walk to start the inning. After one out,
Lucas Konczyk doubled home Strampp to put Lincoln on top 3-2. Trey
Schilling followed with a single. Patrick McCraith drew a walk to
load the bases. Seth Tungate singled to center to score Konczyk.
With two outs and the bases loaded, Koehler drew a walk and
Schilling scored. Ferguson drew a walk to score McCraith and the
Railsplitters had a 6-2 lead. The inning ended with Strampp flying
out to center.
The Trojans chipped away at the lead by scoring a single run in each
of the third and fourth innings.
It was the fifth inning when the Trojans took the lead. A single
with the bases loaded scored two runs to tie the game first. A
ground out scored the go-ahead run. The Trojans were up 7-6 when the
fifth inning ended.
The Trojans scored four times in the bottom of the sixth inning and
the Railsplitters could not recover.
Charleston won the game by a final score of 11-6.

Sean Raffa took the loss for Lincoln. Raffa tossed four innings,
allowing five hits and seven runs. He walked four batters.
Lucas Konczyk pitched one and one-third innings of middle relief.
Konczyk allowed five hits and four runs. He struck out one batter.
Dylan Singleton pitched to two batters in the bottom of the sixth
inning. He induced a fly ball for an out and then the catcher, Seth
Tungate, gunned down the baserunner trying to steal second to get
out of the inning.
Lincoln had eight hits in the game.
Trey Schilling was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Trent Koehler was
1-for-3 with three RBIs. Dylan Singleton, Keagan Ferguson, Lucas
Konczyk, Patrick McCraith and Seth Tungate each had hits for
Lincoln.
Lincoln falls to 15-7 on the season.
The Railsplitters continue their road trip with a game at
Taylorville today at 4:30 p.m.
