Lincoln defeats Taylorville 11-2

The Railsplitters continue to play ball away from home this
week. Wednesday afternoon the Railsplitters were in Taylorville.
They handled the Tornadoes rather easily with Lucas Konczyk on the
mound, coming home with an 11-2 win.
Konczyk earned the win for Lincoln. He tossed seven innings,
allowing three hits and two unearned runs. He struck out seven
batters and walked no one.
In the first inning, Lincoln jumped on the board with three runs.
Dylan Singleton doubled to start the game. He stole third and came
home to score on a two-out single by Tanner Strampp. Sean Raffa
followed with a single in the next at-bat. Then it was Konczyk
helping himself out with a two-run double and the Lincoln lead was
3-0.
Trent Koehler added an RBI double in the top of the second inning to
score Singleton, who had also doubled in his at-bat.
In the top of the fifth inning, Lincoln scored four times. Singleton
led off the inning with a home run to right field. Strampp hit an
RBI double to score Ferguson. Then it was Konczyk doing it again
with a two-run double. At the end of the top of the fifth inning,
Lincoln was on top 8-0.
The Tornadoes scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth
inning on a Railsplitters error.
One run crossed the plate for Lincoln in the top of the sixth
inning. Singleton doubled to start the inning. Koehler hit a bunt
single to reach base and Singleton advanced to third. Ferguson hit a
sacrifice fly to bring home Singleton and keep Lincoln in front with
a comfortable 9-2 lead.

In the top of the seventh inning two more runs came racing home when
Seth Tungate hit an inside the park home run with Trey Schilling on
base. Lincoln carried the 11-2 lead into the bottom of the seventh
inning.
Konczyk struck the Tornadoes out 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh
inning and the game was over.
Lincoln won by a final score of 11-2 over Taylorville.
The Railsplitters had 15 hits versus Taylorville.
Dylan Singleton was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and one RBI. Lucas
Konczyk was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Trent Koehler was 2-for-4 with
one RBI. Tanner Strampp was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two
RBIs. Sean Raffa was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Keagan Ferguson
was 1-for-3 with one RBI and a run scored. Seth Tungate was 1-for-4
with two RBIs and a run scored. Patrick McCraith was 1-for-4.
Lincoln improved to 16-7 on the season.
The Railsplitters will play at Springfield Lanphier today at 4:30
p.m.
