Lady Railers defeat Taylorville 9-1

The Lady Railers hosted Taylorville on Wednesday afternoon
and once the offense got going, it was Lincoln winning 9-1 over the
Tornadoes.
Cara Farnam was in the circle for Lincoln and she earned the win. In
her seven innings of work, she allowed one unearned run on three
hits. Farnam struck out nine batters and walked no one.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning. Mya
Kirgan singled to left with two outs and Cassie Bridge drove her
home on a triple to center. Lincoln was on top 1-0.
Taylorville tied the game 1-1 in the top of the fifth.
The Lady Railers would score six runs in the bottom of the fifth
inning to take a 7-1 lead. Emily Paulus’ two-run single was the
first big blow of the inning. Cara Farnam threw a double to center
in the mix to score Paulus. Ryen Stoltzenburg singled to center to
score Farnam. Bridge added yet another single to score Stoltzenburg.
Bridge stole second and scored on a single to center by Chloe
Johnston. When the dust settled, Lincoln was on top 7-1.
Paulus walked to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning. After
stealing second base, Paulus came around to score on a double by
Farnam. Mackenzie Worth entered the game as the courtesy runner for
Farnam and she scored on a double by Stoltzenburg. The Lincoln lead
grew to 9-1.

After an error to start the top of the seventh inning, Farnam
retired the next three Tornadoes on ground outs.
Lincoln wins the game 9-1 over Taylorville.
The Lady Railers had eleven hits versus Taylorville.
Cara Farnam was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Ryen
Stoltzenburg was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Cassie
Bridge was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Emily Paulus was
1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Chloe Johnston was
1-for-3 with an RBI. Mya Kirgan was 1-for-4 with a run scored. Abbie
Glenn was 1-for-4. Riley Tungate was 1-for-3 with a run scored.
Malena Kirgan scored a run.
The Lady Railers improved to 10-13 on the season.
Lincoln will play at East Peoria on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
