[November 08, 2021] The Chicago Bears waived veteran wide receiver Breshad Perriman on Sunday. The move could clear the way for the Bears (3-5) to activate running back David Montgomery from injured reserve ahead of Monday night's game against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers (4-3).

Perriman, 28, joined the Bears in September after being released by the Detroit Lions. He has been inactive for every game this season.

A first-round pick by Baltimore in 2015, Perriman has tallied 125 receptions for 2,066 yards and 14 touchdowns in 63 career games with the Ravens (2016-17), Cleveland Browns (2018), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2019) and New York Jets (2020).

Montgomery was designated to return from injured reserve on Thursday and practiced for the first time since spraining his left knee in Week 4.

Despite missing four games, Montgomery still leads Chicago with three rushing touchdowns and ranks second with 309 rushing yards behind rookie Khalil Herbert (351).

Montgomery, 24, has rushed for 2,268 yards and 17 touchdowns and caught 85 passes for 672 yards and three TDs in 35 games since the Bears drafted him in the third round in 2019.
