United Community Bank (UCB) in Lincoln is hosting a Community
Shred Day event on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. at 2201 Woodlawn Road. The event is free to all
community members.
A mobile shred truck will be onsite on the south side of the
Illini Building to provide safe, secure document shredding.
Residents may drive through and drop off their documents or stay
and watch the shred truck safely destroy them. Volunteers will
be on hand to assist visitors with unloading and preparation for
the shred truck.
“It’s a great opportunity to shred any old documents you no
longer need that contain sensitive personal and/or financial
information,” states Patrick Gettleman, Vice President, Lending
with UCB. “In addition to offering this free identity protection
and recycling service to the community, we will also be
collecting donations for the Lincoln/Logan Food Pantry.”
In conjunction with Community Shred Day, UCB will be accepting
monetary donations and non- perishable food items to help
support the Lincoln/ Logan Food Pantry. Event visitors are
encouraged to bring items such as canned meat, vegetables,
soups, and beans. Other needed items include pasta, rice, peanut
butter, applesauce, crackers, and whole-grain cereals.
Reasonable limits do apply to the shred event so that as many as possible may be
served. If residents or small businesses have more than five copy paper-sized
boxes, they are asked to contact the Bank prior to the event to discuss
available options. The event will take place, rain or shine, and health and
safety measures will be followed. Residents are asked to only bring paper items
to shred. Papers in folders, with paper clips, staples, etc. will shred with the
papers and do not need to be removed. Please contact UCB at 217-735-5400 with
any questions.
