With the help of Cloudpoint Geospatial, Illinois American Water’s
operations team is using GPS to collect City of Mount Pulaski water
and wastewater system data and modernize the mapping system. This
work is being completed to support Illinois American Water’s
operation of the system, expected to begin in early December.
To map the infrastructure, Cloudpoint Geospatial employees will be
traveling throughout the community to locate and record the location
of wastewater mains, water mains, manholes, fire hydrants, valves,
etc. Residents should be aware that they may see Cloudpoint
Geospatial employees working in their neighborhoods. Cloudpoint
Geospatial employees will not need access inside homes to complete
this work, but residents may see them working in front of their
homes or in the backyards and alleyways.
Illinois American Water asks that residents follow social distancing
recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention by keeping at least 6 feet (2 meters) between residents
and employees/contractors. If there is a question about service or
work, residents can call Chad Kerns, project coordinator, at
217-651-4532.
According to Nate Pennisi, Operations Superintendent, the Cloudpoint
Geospatial helps the company capture assets and supports customer
service. He said, “When Illinois American Water acquires the system,
employees will be able to access wastewater and water asset
information on their in-vehicle computers or handheld GPS locators.
This will help decrease response time and aid in customer service
requests.”
