[November 16, 2021]  LINCOLN - Anna Clara Kutz Westen, 94, of Lincoln, formerly of Emden, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Visitation:  Monday, November 8, 2021, 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Emden

Service:  10 a.m. Monday at the church

Obituary

Anna Clara Kutz Westen, 94, of Lincoln, formerly of Emden, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at the Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Anna was born August 11, 1927, to Emil Kutz and Goldie Eeten Kutz. She was baptized September 11, 1928, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden and was confirmed at St. Peter’s on April 6, 1941. Anna married Christian Eldon “Bud” Westen on February 27, 1949, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2015.

Anna is survived by two sons: Larry “Moe” (Joyce) Westen, Emden and Clarke (Tammy) Westen, Kenny, IL; one daughter, Rita (Larry) Haedicke, East Peoria and one son-in-law, Tom Kelroy, Fond du Lac, WI; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eileen (Ronald) Hubbard of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Dennis, daughter Gloria, three brothers and three sisters.

Anna and her husband farmed a Scully lease for many years before retiring in 1998. They retired in Emden and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Anna entered the Christian Village Community in 2017 and continued to share her faith and friendship with all she met.

She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Anna was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Emden where she was part of the Good Samaritan Society. Through the years, she enjoyed playing cards, camping, and square dancing.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2021, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Emden. Burial will follow at Hartsburg Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the church.

Arrangements were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Improvement Fund or to Christian Village Nursing Home.
