The Lincoln Girls Basketball Team lost a tough battle on Friday
night to Mattoon in the Pana Thanksgiving Tournament, falling by
a final score of 54-45.
The Lady Railers trailed
just 9-8 after the first quarter and fell behind 24-20 at the
half. The Green Wave held a 38-33 lead after three quarters of
play. Mattoon sank their free throws in the final quarter, going
6-for-6 down the stretch, and sealed the 54-45 win over
Lincoln. Kloe Froebe led Lincoln with 22 points.
Mallory Ramage of Mattoon led all scorers with 27 points.
Assistant Coach Donnie Bowman is filling in for Coach Taylor
Rohrer, who is out of town for her grandfather’s funeral this
weekend, and he said the team played really well but that
Mattoon just shot the lights out. The Green Wave went 8-for-9
from the free throw line and hit eight total threes in the game.
Lincoln had just one three in the game and was 8-for-14 from the
free throw line. Lincoln will play Williamsville
this morning at 10 a.m. as the Pana Thanksgiving Tournament
continues. Lincoln will also play the Pana JV
team at 6 p.m. tonight. Scoring
