Atlanta's first Christmas Parade
and Fifth Annual Tree Lighting this Sunday evening

The City of Atlanta, Illinois announces its first Christmas on Route
66 Parade and 5th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on November 28.
Come out and join in the holiday festivities.
The parade currently has 24 entries ranging from floats to horses to
motorcycles to classic cars, you name it. The Christmas Parade will
begin at 4:30pm starting at Nutrien Ag Solutions on Arch Street,
continue down Arch Street, take a right on Vine Street, take a right
on Church Street, then a right on South Street.
The 5th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting will take place promptly
after the parade at the famous “big tree” on the corner of Church
and South Street.
Before the parade, the Atlanta Christmas Tree Lighting Committee
will be handing out complimentary hot chocolate and cookies inside
the Visitors Center located at 114 SW Arch Street. The committee
will be serving until they run out. The parade route uses Arch,
Vine, Church, and South Streets. The parade will end after passing
the big tree at the corner of Church and South Street.

Following the parade, at approximately 5pm, Atlanta will hold its
5th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting with Billie Cheek doing the
honors.
The tree will be the one located at the corner of Church and South
Street. Afterwards, enjoy the holiday lights in Route 66 Park and
Xenia Park. Country-Aire Restaurant will donate 10% of food
purchases from the evening to the Atlanta Christmas Tree Lighting
Committee for new decorations and maintenance of current
decorations. Please mention “Atlanta Christmas Tree Lighting
Committee” to the waiter/waitress.
