Bruns September Senior of the Month at Mount Pulaski High School

Elana Bruns, daughter of Mariya and David Bruns
of Chestnut, has been named September-Senior-of-the-month at Mount
Pulaski High School. She was selected for this honor based on the
criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

During
her time at MPHS, Elana has stayed very involved in extracurricular
activities. She has been a member of Student Council, FFA, Drama
Club, Spanish Club, Cheerleading, Science Olympiad, Yearbook, NHS,
Academic Challenge, and Prom Committee.
Outside of school she participates in 4-H, NSHSS, and Yale Young
Global Scholars. She is also a youth horse riding instructor, a
small jewelry business owner, and as a ring steward. She also helps
farm corn and soybeans. Elana also is a published poet.
Elana has also received numerous awards and accolades during her
time at MPHS. She was student of the year in health, Spanish, intro
to ag, and soil, crop, and livestock. She also received her Star
Greenhand, Section grain production and section diversified crop
production winner, prepared speaking award, extemporaneous speaking
award, landuse award, and livestock evaluation award.

Elana plans to double major in forensic science and psychology
with a minor in English/linguistics.
The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman
Service and Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc.. They
are also in the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by
Illinois National Bank.
