[October 20, 2021]  LINCOLN - Cody M. Shawgo, 46, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Service: ***A Celebration of Cody's Life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Lincoln American Legion.***

Cody M. Shawgo, 46, of Lincoln, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Cody Michelle Rice was born on July 17, 1975, in Lincoln, the daughter of Barbara J. Stansbury. She was united in marriage to Ronald Lynn Shawgo on November 16, 1994. He survives.

Also surviving Cody are her daughter: Cadence Shawgo; sons: Jacob Shawgo and Christopher Shawgo; her mother: Barbara J. Defrees; her grandmother: Mary Stansbury; one brother: Robert (Terri) Rice; and five grandchildren: Elena, Jaxon, Lillian, Wyatt, and Silas.

 

Funeral Director

She was preceded in death by her stepfather: Butch Defrees.

Cody graduated from the Lincoln Community High School in 1993. After working for many years at the Idle Hour Inn, she was most recently employed by Illinois Secretary of State's Office as a Public Service Representative at the Department of Motor Vehicles Office in Lincoln.

She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in her name.
