On Friday morning, the Lincoln United States Postal Service workers gathered on the front steps of the post office for their pink picture, despite the raindrops that fell and made small imperfections on the camera lens. The group felt no remorse for the rain or the vaguely messed up lens because, after all, isn't that part of who they are, always there "rain or shine."

Thinking on how their attitude and the misty rain relate to our theme of the month, the answer came quickly. Breast cancer messes up our lives. It gets messy and it doesn't care if we are picture-perfect. Even so, our warriors go on, leaning into the storm and making their way through the courses of their days. They are to be admired for their strength and encouraged to keep going, even when the raindrops falling from their eyes threaten to drown them. If you have a loved one in battle, be sure to let them know that you admire their strength and courage. That will mean more to them than you will ever know.

The light mist covering Logan County on Friday morning subsided long enough for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the New Holland Banking Center. The bank, a branch of the National Bank in Tremont, hosted a grand opening of its brand new banking center on Friday and Saturday.

Holding the scissor for the cut were bank President June Kidd, Brand Manager Tyler Hodge and New Holland Mayor Annie Coers. In the background were members of the Tremont Board of Directors and New Holland Staff.

In today's edition of Lincoln Daily News, Lincoln College President Dr. David Gerlach offers a humorous and sentimental tribute to the late Matt Young.

Young and Eric Morris were two of the early friendships Gerlach made upon arriving in Lincoln in 2015.

Young passed away on September 29th of this year.
